Tricking a last resort?
I recently read two articles on Interview technique, one of them was from the International Journalist Network Website and the other was from the Campus Weblines website
Both articles touch on the subject of tricking interviewees through the process of interviewing, however each article holds a different perspective toward using tricks in interviews.
The Article from the International Journalist Network Website condones the art of tricking interview subjects into saying something that they are trying to trick you out of asking, the article states:
If they trick you, trick them back
Comparatively, the article from the Campus Weblines Website is against the notion of using tricks within an interview unless it is a desperate act of a last resort;
Trying to trick people into telling you things they shouldn’t is almost always a recipe for disaster. There are occasions for relying on subterfuge and misdirection in gaining information, but they are few and are always the absolutely last resort
I personally agree with the Campus weblines article’s opinion on tricking. I believe that tricking a subject, unless they try to trick you first is a recipe for disaster and it should be a last resort.
