What type of Journalist am I?
When asked what type of Journalist I hope to evolve into through my course at UOW I suprisingly found that I could give a detailed answer straight off the top of my head.
I hope to be a journalist who is concerned with bringing valid and worthy news to my audience that may affect them personally such as the ongoing issue of rising interest rates, Which over the coming weeks will push the monthly repayments on a 25-year $250,000 mortgage up by $69. I am also interested, through my journalism in giving my opinion on matters such as the whole Corey Worthingston issue.
My main hope, However, is that through my Journalism teachings I will eventually be able to go on and be a Photo Journalist for a travel magazine, or a documentary maker for a program such as national geographic. The thing that interests me about Photojournalism in the tourism or documentary industries is that the photo is the most important aspect of the article, as I do believe a picture paints 1000 words. So in other words the value of a good photo or film documentary goes far beyond a written article when it comes to audience reaction.
